Hovering Male Ruby-Throated Hummingbird
Hummingbirds hovering in front of a flower get lift not just from the down stroke of their wings as birds usually do but also from the up stroke, similar to insects. They are the only birds capable of flying this way. In this image you can see the start of the up stroke. Next time you see a hummingbird in flight, you can marvel at this unique ability.
